7th BMDA Annual Conference “Leadership Responsibility – Global Outlook and Regional Sustainability” took place in Copenhagen Business School, on May 14-15, in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Conference attracted diverse international group of participants from 19 countries – Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Sweden, UK and USA.

7th BMDA Annual Conference “Leadership Responsibility – Global Outlook and Regional Sustainability” took place in Copenhagen Business School, on May 14-15, in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The Conference attracted diverse international group of participants from 19 countries – Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Sweden, UK and USA.

Positive and inspiring feedback of Conference participants and speakers, leads us to believe that this was one of the best BMDA conferences. 

Keynote speakers Mr. Uffe Elleman – Jensen (Chairman of the Baltic Development Forum; former minister for foreign affairs of Denmark), Dr. Manuel Escudero (Head of the UN PRME Secretariat), Prof. Robert D. Austin (Professor at Harvard Business School and Copenhagen Business School) and Prof. Mads Ovlisen (Member of the UN Global Compact Board, former CEO of NovoNordisk, former Chairman Lego) shared their views and valuable experiences on Responsible Leadership.

An eye-opening activity “Leadership Surprise – Conducting Leadership” led by Mr. Peter Hanke, truly impressed Conference participants and encouraged everybody to look at Leadership phenomenon from completely different perspective. The participants were given unique opportunity to conduct a choir and convey their leadership skills. Mr. Peter Hanke revealed the experience, knowledge and techniques of performing arts in a leadership context.

Parallel sessions: “Student driven Social Responsibility”, “Value Based Management” and “Corporate Karma” invited participants for open and interactive discussions. The sessions provided participants’ an opportunity to find out more about practical leadership approach, experience shared by Mr. Jonathan Tuovinen (President of CEMS Club Copenhagen, Denmark), Ms. Ida Winberg Hemmingsen (Head of Steering Committee of Develop, Denmark), Mr. Morten Christensen (CEO of Statoil Lithuania), Mr. Jose Luiz Barbosa (CEO of creera.net, Sweden), Dr. Torben Moller (Dean of AVT Business School), Prof. Dr. Anders Aspling ( Secretary-General of GRLI); as well as Mr. Jesper Bjorn (Management Catalyst, CBS, Denmark), Prof. Marielle Heijltjes (Director Universiteit Maastricht Business School, Netherlands),  and Prof. Robert D. Austin, who moderated the discussions and covered the topics from academic point of view.

The President of BMDA, Dr. Virginijus Kundrotas described the role of Baltic Management Development Association in developing and promoting Responsible leadership idea, presented future activities of Association and invited participants to be active in Sustainable development of the region.

The Chairman of the conference Dr. Sven Junghagen (Vice-president of CBS) summarised the discussions taken place during the whole event and expressed the importance of each individual in acting as responsible leader or citizen.

BMDA Conference provided an exceptional opportunity for participants to take part in interactive sessions, group discussions, networking activities, to hear the thoughts shared by prominent international speakers, which led to enriched professional cooperation, and as usually, friendly and lively BMDA atmosphere.
