Danica Purg New Acting Chair of the UN PRME Steering Committee

Bled (Slovenia) and New York (USA): UN PRME - Principles for Responsible Management Education has named Prof. Danica Purg, President of CEEMAN and IEDC-Bled School of Management, as Acting Chair of the UN PRME Steering Committee.

The UN PRME has been operating since 2007 and brings together more than 800 business schools and universities from around the world. It was created at the initiative of the largest global network on corporate social responsibility and sustainable development - United Nations Global Compact - based in New York. Former UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon is the main founder of UN PRME. The UN PRME Committee is based on universal values and principles, whose common goal is to encourage business schools to integrate the concepts of sustainable development and social responsibility in their educational and research activities.

Prof. Danica Purg has taken the role of Acting Chair of the UN PRME Steering Committee from 15 December 2019 to 30 June 2020. Her main task will be to appoint members for a PRME Interim Management Council and thereafter, PRME will develop a new governance structure.

For 11 years, Prof. Purg was President of UN Global Compact Slovenia. In 2013, Prof. Danica Purg was nominated Chair of the PRME (Principles of Responsible Management Education) Steering Committee, while CEEMAN and IEDC-Bled School of Management hosted the PRME Forum in Bled, Slovenia the same year. Prof. Purg and CEEMAN have also supported the establishment of the PRME CEE Chapter in 2016 and continue to be actively involved in its work. In 2017, Danica Purg received an award at the Global UN PRME Forum for her pioneering work and contribution to the UN PRME Initiative.
