Erasmus+ Partnerships to Ensure Risk Management in practice Business Week

BA School of Business and Finance (Riga) hosted project partners from Hogeschool Rotterdam (The Netherlands) and Vilniaus Kolegija (Lithuania). 12 students from each university spent a week working together on a case study. They had to solve business risks in the specific case. The owner of the case was the biggest company in Latvia – Latvenergo. We would like to thank Andris Graudins for the support of the project and providing the case. The case focused on risks related to a unique object – power plant station. During the week the students and academic staff could enjoy lectures delivered by our partners: State limited Liability Company “Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre”. We would like to express our gratitude to Andris Viksna and thank for the lecture “Climate Risks”. The biggest insurance company in Latvia “Balta” presented the lecture on “Risk Management and Pricing”, our thanks go to Egita Ostena.

The project team had the opportunity to involve in various entertaining activities, so hard work was compensated with a Riga Orienteering Game, which was organized by Janis Hermanis whom we want to thank for this initiative, as well as for the opportunity to visit the “case object” – Keguma Power Plant Station. For this opportunity we would like to express our thanks to Rolands Ozolins. The project team had a wonderful   opportunity to taste the feeling of Latvian national passion for ice hockey (with hockey sticks in hands and skates on feet) which was arranged by Maris Krastins. So, great week with lots of impressions. People are everything, so special thanks go to Vincent Versluis and Arie Frederik De Wild, Mindaugas Liogys and Jolanta Mačėnienė. The most important participants in the project were our students who dedicated long hours by trying to solve the case and come up with solutions. The project demonstrated a strong team spirit.
