LCC Students Reach the Finals of Prestigious Competition

LCC International University is happy to announce that senior students Robertas Kurakovas and Denis Kotov have reached the finals stage of the Challenge: Future Global Youth Competition 2011/12! The team, called "Free Radicals," will further compete for the EUR 20,000 Grand Award and for the opportunity to participate at the Challenge: Future Academy and Summit that will take place in Slovenia in March 2012.

Challenge: Future Competition 2011/12 dares to re-envision a future where meaning and positive change go hand-in-hand with fun. In the first round of the competition, teams from around the world were asked to take fun seriously and share their vision of how 2030 could see more fun and meaning in the world. In the semi-finals they were challenged to take the vision to the next level and develop a clear, tangible and exciting idea for a fun and meaningful world. For the finals round, teams will have to take the idea as close to implementation as possible.

The "Free Radicals" team is participating in this competition for the first time. Robertas and Denis decided to get involved in the competition after it was featured in an LCC Student events email last semester. The idea of the project which led them to the finals was to create a website dedicated to alert global populations about environmental hazards, whether natural or manmade, and to engage communities into action via interactive mapping of events.

"We would encourage other students to participate in this competition because of the opportunity to present your winning ideas, to make a positive contribution on the global or local level as well as to get noticed," say the "Free Radicals" team members. "Besides, it's a lot of fun!"

This autumn, Challenge Future invites students and youth 18-30 years old to participate in three new challenges, each one bringing many opportunities such as scholarships of up to EUR 2,500 per person to attend the Challenge: Future Academy and Summit 2012, financial support for project realization, internships, speaking opportunities at global events, and various other prizes.
