RTU CLIMBS THE QS EMERGING EUROPE AND CENTRAL ASIA RANKING

Riga Technical University (RTU) has been ranked 55 in QS Emerging Europe and Central Asia (ECCA) 2018 ranking among 300 leading universities. ECCA is Europe and Central Asia regional ranking that is implemented by QS World University Rankings (QS). The ranking results were published on Monday evening, October 16.

In comparison with the previous year, when RTU was ranked 64, the university has improved its performance by nine positions. This is the highest rank that RTU has reached during four years, since it was first included in the ranking. In total 300 leading universities from 20 countries in Europe and Central Asia have been evaluated in the ranking. Ranking includes only 18% of all 2900 universities in the region, and RTU is among 1.9% of top universities in the region.

«RTU is highly valued in cooperation with the industry and thus has climbed nine positions in this ranking. Internationally RTU is increasingly ranked among the best technology universities in the region, as evidenced by several national and international awards,» said Juris Iljins, Director of RTU Quality Management and Record Management Department.

RTU shows the best results in such factors as academic reputation and employer reputation, as well as in the number of scientific publications of the academic staff in faculties.

In the ranking universities are assessed taking into consideration nine factors – Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Faculty/Student Ratio, Papers per Faculty, Web Impact, Citations per Paper, Staff with PhD, and International Faculty and International Students. In comparison with the previous year, RTU has improved its performance in five of these factors.

Lomonosov Moscow State University was ranked in first place, Novosibirsk State University was ranked in second place and University of Tartu was ranked in third place.
