The Highered Career Professionals Development Institute

Speakers inspired participants with expert insights on future-proofing talent career management strategies at the pilot edition of the Career Professionals Development Institute (CPDI) in Rome. We look forward to welcoming a new cohort of career professionals at Barcelona EADA Business School in May 4 – 6, 2020!

On 20th November 2019, Highered EFMD Shared Career Services welcomed the inaugural cohort of the Career Professionals Development Institute (CPDI) at LUISS Business School in Rome, Italy. 30 Career Service professionals from 25 leading business schools and the European Central Bank participated in the intensive three-day training to acquire the state-of-the-art competencies and to stay abreast of the latest placement trends relevant for the business school sector.

Dr. Amber Wigmore Alvarez, Chief Innovation Officer at Highered, set the scene by providing the audience with an overview of the Career Services industry – covering key standards, performance frameworks, and important employment and general recruiting trends. She finished her opening speech by introducing the five modules involving leadership and the key focus areas of Career Services.

Tron Kleivane, Partner of the Great Leadership Institute and the Great Place to Work, led the first session by explaining why and how high-trust leadership impacts motivation and performance, what are the core characteristics of high-trust leadership, and how to develop more effective high-trust leadership.

Eleonora Valenti, Head of Talent Acquisition at Mindvalley, mapped the recruitment landscape incorporating highly advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality, and the latest innovations such as gamification and video interviewing. Drawing her 10+ years’ industry experience, she suggested strategies for successful talent placement from a recruiter’s perspective, ranging from global corporations to start-up practices.

Laszlo Avramov, CEO and Co-Founder at iLovetobe, further elaborated on the topic of career education, focusing on the aspects of handling career transformation, building a career curriculum, and global job placements. Solutions for global interview and assessment centre processes were proposed in detail.

Lisa Piguet, Founder of VerticaLeap and Katty Ooms-Suter, Managing Director at La Ferme de la Praz Coaching provided the participants with practical suggestions to craft a strong career advising strategy that fits the different needs of the student population in a changing market.

The three-day CPDI was well-received by the participants with its focus on aligning the hiring needs of corporate partners with the profile of graduate cohorts leveraging technology and data analytics. The thoughtfully designed programme and carefully arranged venue stimulated fruitful discussions through peer-to-peer interactions, sharpened the careers professionals’ self-conception as drivers of institutional reputation, and fostered dialogue around the strategic role of talent and careers departments within business schools.

Highered and EFMD strive to offer unique opportunities for talent and career professionals to learn how current trends may affect their work in the future and how to prepare for evolving job demands. We look forward to welcoming a new cohort of career professionals at Barcelona EADA Business School in May 4 – 6, 2020.
