The Quality Assurance Academy

& Supplementary Report Writing Workshop

When: 11-14 Dec 2019

Where: Budapest, Hungary

Host: Corvinus University of Budapest

Are you in charge of achieving and sustaining external quality recognition? Do you see yourself as a programme quality accelerator? Shadowed by mentors, you will leave with skills and competencies necessary to manage quality across a wide range of activities within a business school. Stay with us one more day and master the art of writing a quality narrative for accrediting organisations and stakeholders.

You will learn how:
  • you can become more effective leader of your school’s quality assurance activities (even if only endowed with limited authority);
  • to align quality assurance with the business school’s strategic development trajectory;
  • quality assurance work can be supported with smart data management and how data analytics can make quality assurance more effective (and what its limitations are);
  • to manage (multiple) quality assurance projects in parallel involving external validation and review;
  • to establish and manage an assurance of learning system and how to organise effective reviews of educational offerings;
  • quality assurance focused on degree provision can be complemented with activities targeting research, stakeholder engagement and internationalization.
Programme format:

1. Preparatory phase (approx. 20 hours)

Each participant will be assigned an experienced mentor at the beginning of the course who will support and enhance the learning experience with dedicated and repeated interventions. The preparatory phase involves:
  • Guided study of international quality assurance and enhancement frameworks.
  • Formalisation of participant’s own quality assurance and enhancement journey.
  • Multiple interactions with the assigned mentor via Zoom/Skype to discover learning interests and development needs.
2. Face to face workshop (approx. 24 hours over 2,5 days)
3. Capstone activity (approx. 20 hours)

The third phase will enable participants to convert workshop learning outcomes into tangible improvements in their professional work:
  • Design and launch of tangible improvement project at participant’s home institution with multiple interventions by mentor and workshop facilitators.
  • Structured reflections with peers of the same cohort moderated by one of the course’s mentors.

The Quality Assurance Academy is complementary to the accreditation seminars delivered by EFMD’s Quality Services Department. It seeks to develop the competencies needed for advancing a school’s quality agenda rather than support a specific quality enhancement project or cover a specific quality assurance framework.
