VATEL CONVENTION 2022 AT UDG!

UDG gathered 55 Vatel schools in Montenegro within the framework of the 16th International Convention in the field of tourism and hospitality management Vatel's school, which is, according to the recently published QS ranking, the first in France and 11th in the world in the field of hospitality management, gathered a network of its schools in Montenegro

The University of Donja Gorica is the host of the 16th International Vatel Convention, which takes place from October 19 to 23 in Montenegro. This year's convention brought together representatives of the Vatel Group from France, directors of 55 prestigious Vatel schools from 33 countries on 4 continents, representatives of the diplomatic corps, the National Tourist Organization, as well as some of the most important representatives of the hospitalty industry from around the world.

The event was opened by the rector of the University of Donja Gorica, Prof. Veselin Vukotić, who pointed out that it is a great honor for him that UDG is the host of this year's convention. He emphasized that the University of Donja Gorica has enough courage to develop a study model that springs from our vision of the future, and that Vatel's studies are a visionary idea and a light of  the future that should be followed by all universities that belong to the great Vatel family. Professor Vukotić added: "This convention is an opportunity to get to know each other even better through socializing and work, to become better friends, to all together increase the feeling of belonging to the Vatel family of universities, to increase the emotional capital of this international network."

Mr. Alain Sebban, the CIO of the Vatel Group, pointed out that Vatel, 40 years after the opening of its first school in Paris, represents a world-recognized brand in the field of higher education in tourism and hospitality management, as shown by the recently published prestigious QS ranking of academic institutions from around the world of the world on which Vatel's school is ranked as the 1st in France and the 11th in the world in the field of hospitality management. He especially emphasized that, since the very establishment of Vatel's program in Montenegro, he has been extremely satisfied with the cooperation with the University of Donja Gorica, which made an exceptional contribution to the creation of high-quality management staff in the field of tourism and hospitality industry, not only in Montenegro, but also in the entire region, as well as to the internationalization process, through promoting and active participation in the Marco Polo students’ exchange program.

Mr. Ahmet Erentok, a president of the Board of Directors of Azmont Investments, also addressed the attendees. He pointed out that he has always been impressed by the role Vatel's school plays when it comes to training high-quality personnel in the field of tourism and hospitality management, and that  their company initiated the idea of ​​establishing this school in Montenegro. He pointed out that the choice of a university in Montenegro was not difficult at all and that, thanks to the vision of Professor Vukotić, it was immediately clear that UDG is the institution that will be the right partner in the realization of this project, which is significant not only for Montenegro, but also for the entire region.


Mr. Ion Vilcu, director of the Department of the Affiliated Members’  at UNWTO,  presented key trends and perspectives in the global tourism market,  special emphasizing the role and importance of the World Tourism Organization. He also pointed to the necessity of establishing more intensive cooperation with higher education institutions in the field of tourism and hospitality management and expressed his willingness to consider potential models of cooperation between the UNWTO, the University of Donja Gorica and Vatel's group in the following period.
