EBS and Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre open Cultural Management programme

In December 2011 Margus Pärtlas from Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (EAMT) and Heikki Päeva, Vice Rector of Estonian Business School signed a cooperation agreement, that is going to regulate the relations between the two universities in managing a joint English MA programme in Cultural Management.

The Cultural Management MA programme is intended for people with a keen interest or practical experience in culture and entrepreneurship. The two-year study period involves courses from cultural politics to public relations. The programme is joint between EAMT and EBS. The graduates of the programme will receive diplomas from both universities. Lectures are held in English and international topics are taught by guest lecturers from the UK, USA, Austria, Serbia, Germany and Finland.

The Estonian Academy of Art (EKA) will also be involved in developing the programme. The new study programme will not be created from zero, since Cultural Management has been taught in EMTA for 10 years, mainly by foreign lecturers. Tighter cooperation with EBS and EKA creates much broader possibilities for integrating art and entrepreneurship. Margus Pärtlas from EMTA stressed that artists and businessmen have a lot to learn from each other."Cultural Management will find the contacts between these two fields", he said.

The Head of the Cultural Management programme will be Finnish professor Tuomas Auvinen. The first admission takes place in the coming summer.
