LCC Students Tie for First Place in Global Business Simulation Competition

LCC International University students for the first time in LCC history have ranked 1st place among 1841 other teams worldwide!

LCC International University students for the first time in LCC history have ranked the highest in the international GLO-BUS business simulation competition. This time John McQuaig's Business Strategy Simulation students have gone even further - they have hit the record and ranked 1st place among 1841 other teams worldwide! The team members are Paulius Grigaitis, Artūras Grimalis, Elsi Hametaj, Dainius Šilingas, and Mantas Baranauskas.

Almost all senior students at LCC participate in the international business strategy simulation competition and in the last few years achieved great results. Two years ago business simulation students hit the record as not one, but three of LCC's teams ranked in the Top 100. Three years ago LCC's team made it into the Top 50 out of 648 teams around the world.

The GLO-BUS competition is a completely online exercise, in which teams of students run their own companies while competing against other students' companies. The competition is meant to parallel real-life companies from the same industry. Each team chooses a global market arena from four geographic regions - Europe/Africa, North America, Asia/Pacific and Latin America - and bases their business plans on their target consumers. Each team must make decisions relating to product line, production operations, outsourcing, pricing, sales, marketing and finance, just as managers of real-world companies would. Every week that the teams partake in the GLO-BUS competition constitutes a year in terms of the simulation. Just as in the business world, the teams are evaluated on these 'yearly' periods of time to determine each company's profitability and position in the market.
