Leadership Development Program Re-Launched at LCC

This fall LCC International University gives a great opportunity for students to participate in the Leadership Development Program (LDP) which has a goal to equip, motivate and inspire LCC students to become not just leaders, but leaders who truly make a difference.

Leadership coordinators are launching the Great Leaders, Great Lessons series. The purpose of this series is looking at world-changing leaders and what their life and leadership can teach. This program will be focused towards a question: “Who are the leaders who can inspire the LCC students and what can they learn from them, so that the students are empowered to bring their own, one-of-a-kind leadership and put it at the service of their communities, their countries, and our world?”.The LDP will use examples like Nelson Mandela, Mother Theresa, Steve Jobs and Mikhail Gorbachev. Representing different continents, times in history and leadership credos, they each “made a dent in the universe” as Steve Jobs put it.

For a hands-on experience of leadership, the program has two important components: the service projects and the Leadership Challenge. The first component of the program is the Leadership Challenge which will be a balanced mix of fun and learning, with each group being given a series of tasks that they have to complete in a given time. The second component is a Service Project that will be oriented towards servant leadership including helping at orphanages, cleaning the streets of Klaipeda and raising funds for a charity.

“Skills like team-work, strategic planning and time-management are best learned outside of auditoriums, of course!” says Elena Putina, Coordinator of the LDP. “LDP is a certified program, but it is more than getting a piece of paper – students will be equipped, inspired and motivated. We’re training our leaders today – so you will hear about them tomorrow!”, - emphasizes Putina. All students in the LDP and others are invited to the Leadership seminar about Nelson Mandela – a great example of a Servant Leader who led an entire nation into a new era, free from apartheid and inspiring a whole world in the process. It will take place on October 1st, during the Servant Leadership Week at LCC.
