Lomonosov MSU BS Bachelor student wins the national round of international public speaking

The MSUBS student Nikita Ulyanov got the first prize in the national final of the annual International Public Speaking Competition of the English-Speaking Union (ESU).

His next challenge is participating in the international round that will be held at the ESU headquarters in London on May 14-18.

International Public Speaking Competition is one of most prestigious international public speaking events for high school and undergraduate students. Students in over 40 countries compete in the national rounds for the honour to represent their country at the international finals in London. Beginning this year, each country has a right to send only one representative, unlike the previous years, which allowed for two participants. This year, three of MSUBS students, Nikita Ulyanov, Roman Saulin, and Natalya Makhrova, won the Moscow round of the competition, and Nikita went on to participate in the national finals that were held in Saint Petersburg.

Participation in the IPSC is more than a chance to be a part of a prestigious contest; it is, first and foremost, a great educational opportunity. The local and national rounds provide a chance to attend master classes and tutorials on public speaking. The international round is an excellent educational opportunity as well, as it includes a series of workshops and seminars on public speaking - for instance, a master class on acting at the famouse Globe Theatre. And perhaps the best educational venue is the chance to meet with other young public speakers from all over the world and to learn in a great competitive environment.
