FUCE's General Assembly, which takes place annually, identifies and considers current issues, and analyzes the responses of Catholic universities to these issues.  Universities, which are members of the Federation, take part in joint research or study programs, which include a learning component.

"At the moment, for example, we are working on an interdisciplinary program, European Humanism in the Making, and the Ukrainian Catholic University is already taking an active part in this program," – Sophia Opatska  said .  "The Church, as an institution, has a clear and documented position on various topics.  However, universities often do not adequately promote and support this position, and hence we need to state our position more clearly, and in particular through cooperation between students, lecturers and universities.  For the Board of Directors it is important to consider not simply prior contributions, but also present and future contributions.  It is thus important on one hand to determine the Church's position, and on the other, to understand how it can be implemented through various research and teaching programs", – she continued.

Cooperation with the Federation will also involve Lviv Business School of Ukrainian Catholic University (LvBS), particularly the Center for Ethics and Technology of UCU, and the Center for Leadership of UCU, because of the relevance of their topics.

The FUCE Board of Directors is elected for a three year term, consists of a President, a Vice-President and six Councilors reflecting the diversity of FUCE members:  these are representatives from all parts of Europe, with additional representatives from Lebanon and papal universities.

*Information:  the Federation of European Catholic Universities (Fédération des Universités Catholiques Européennes (FUCE)) was established in 1991 in the belief that it can make a new contribution to the network of Catholic universities, based on the positive direction of European integration and the achievements of the European Union.  Toward the end of the 1990s FUCE conducted comparative research, which confirmed the goodwill and affinity among the various European Catholic universities.  It pointed out the need for the consolidation of existing ties, particularly following the implementation of the Bologna process, which starting in 1999, is aimed at providing comparisons of academic credentials of European universities and to encourage the mobility of students, lecturers and researchers.  FUCE coordinates Catholic universities in Europe and Lebanon.
