RISEBA University to Host First Inaugural Meeting of PRME Central and East European Chapter

On 18-19 April 2016 the first inaugural meeting of PRME Central and East European Chapter will be taking place at RISEBA University, Riga, Latvia.

The main aim of the Chapter is to give a stronger voice to PRME signatories of the CEE region within the PRME initiative and Responsible Management Education (RME) movement and provide them with more visibility, highlight good practices, as well as facilitate better exchange of ideas and experience in the area of RME relevant for the region. It will serve as a regional platform for dialogue, collaboration and collective action to further advance RME and sustainable development in support of broader UN goals.

A proposal to establish the CEE Chapter was sent, in consultation with PRME Secretariat, from CEEMAN office in August 2015. After that, discussions about the creation of the Chapter and its potential activities have been taking place informally via email and at the 23rd CEEMAN Annual Conference held in Almaty, Kazakhstan in September 2015. Since then, more than 15 schools from 13 countries in Central and Eastern Europe, including CIS and Central Asia, have expressed interest and supported the idea of establishing the Chapter, while Irina Sennikova, Rector of RISEBA University and Vice-President of CEEMAN, offered to host the Chapter Secretariat at her institution in Riga, Latvia for the time being.
