Students of BA School of Business and Finance enters to the prestigious L’Oreal Brandstorm 2020 final

Three students of the BA School of Business and Finance Lasma Zake, Vendija Safonova and Juris Antonevics  (team “PIC PAC”) participated in the international student innovation contest and won the prestigious entry ticket to the world final of L’Oréal Brandstorm 2020.

Every year - more than 40,000 students from more than 65 countries take part in this innovative competition organized by the L’Oréal. In the final round, students will compete with ideas developed by other teams from more than 80 countries. Topic of competition in 2020 - "Creating a plastic-free future for the beauty industry".

In order to reduce the use of plastics in the beauty industry, the students of BA School of Business and Finance team came up with an innovative idea about environmentally friendly packaging made of natural materials which are also fun to use. PIC PAC packaging is a capsule that disintegrates quickly in nature without harming the environment and is intended for packaging liquid cosmetics. Students, together with specialists in the field of chemistry, have conducted research on packaging components to find the best solution for an innovative product.

Under the guidance of L’Oréal mentors and coaches, students will be prepared for the world finals. The winning team of the L’Oreal Brandstorm 2020 world finals will have the opportunity to bring their business idea to life with a three-month paid internship at Station F - the world’s largest start-up center.

Rector of the BA School of Business and Finance Andris Sarnovics says: “Achievements in the international competition confirms the competitiveness and high level preparation of the students of BA School of Business and Finance. We are proud of our students and lecturers who have prepared the whole team for this very great international competition. We wish you stamina and good luck in the final round!”

Antra Veigure, Head of Human Resources at L’Oréal Baltic admits: “For the first time in the history of the Brandstorm competition a team from the Ba School of Business and Finance is going to represent the Baltic States and the Polish region. When nominating the “PIC PAC” solution for the international final - the L'Oreal jury praised both the innovative and sustainable idea and the way it was presented - students really stood out with the project presentation and the ability to respond to jury's catches.”

We say thank you to Ieva Kozlovska – lecturer of BA School of Business and Finance and the finance field expert - who encouraged the promotion of idea and provided all the support for the “PIC PAC” team.
