TSEBA students organized the innovative conference STRATOS FUTURIS

On 19 January, a conference about innovation business models, Stratos Futuris, was held at TUT. The conference was to answer the questions: What kind of business models will change the world over the next 5 years? What are the secrets of famous business models and how are big companies doing business?

Stratos Futuris was held for the third time already, where the most innovative business models were presented. The conference was preceded by a contest of economics and engineering students of TUT. Participating teams analysed currently popular business models in the world and worked out strategies for upsetting them. The best team was announced at the conference, who will be sent to study in the Silicon Valley in April. 

Pro-rector Alar Kolk: „TUT will send to the Silicon Valley only the most talented, the most capable. The future as well as present students will have a chance to study under direct supervision of top engineers in the world; they only need to work hard, for the weal of their national science and economy. Because besides Apple, Google, Intel, Microsoft there are many Estonian start-up firms starting their international break-through in the Silicon Valley. “

The main presentations were made by: 

Arnoud De Meyer, president of Singapore Management University;

Prof. Dr Mark Harris, former director of Intel, now head of InnoVaVentures.

Professor Mark Harris, former director of Intel, now head of InnoVaVentures, said before the conference that Estonia can achieve remarkable success just in the field of innovation. „For achieving success engineers need innovation and business, “ argued Harris.

TUT students made at the conference presentations on business models used by Google,  Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, Prada, Radisson, Future TV Business Model, Netflix, Cleaning Global Sea.
