Winners of the 27th CEEMAN & Emerald Case Writing Competition Revealed

The judging panel consisted of Shalini Rahul Tiwari, IMT Ghaziabad, India; Al Rosenbloom, Dominican University, USA; and Leif Sjoblom, IMD, Switzerland. The panel selected short-listed cases, reviewed them, and evaluated them based on the competition criteria.

The following cases were selected as the winners:

Winner: Translocate, to fund or not to fund: Challenges in funding an emerging market start-up, Carlos De Jesus, University of Cape Town, College of Accounting, Jason Ker-Fox, University of Pretoria, and Phuti Senyatsi, University of Cape Town, South Africa

“We are thrilled to have won the CEEMAN & Emerald Case Writing Competition and have found the case study writing process to be a richly rewarding collaborative experience. The competition, and platform created by its international reach, provided us with an excellent opportunity to bring awareness to the practical challenges faced in a South African ‘start-up’ space. While drawing on our content knowledge and research ability, the process also forced us to reflect on how we teach and present information to our students. Our primary aim was to get our students more engaged with the theoretical content in a practical manner and we hope that many other educators will be able to benefit, much like we have, from this case study. Winners will officially receive their awards at the 29^th CEEMAN Annual Conference, taking place on 22-24 September 2021 in Trieste, Italy.
