Good news: The winning project for the new MCI Campus was selected by the international jury in a multi-stage European architectural competition.

The architecture of the new MCI Campus was designed by Henning Larsen Architects, one of Europe's most renowned firms with extensive experience in the realization of higher education, educational, artistic, cultural and infrastructure buildings.

Henning Larsen have presented a project that is both convincing and mature. The evaluation jury was particularly impressed by the ideal urban planning implementation of the new campus as a lighthouse project between the historic Hofgarten, the University of Social and Economic Sciences and the new security center. Particular emphasis was placed on the distinctive design language, which expresses the identity of the university and stands for a modern "entrepreneurial university" with the highest standards and international appeal.

The design envisions a building with a compact, square footprint. Due to the clear urban positioning, a permeable spatial structure is formed from the districts of Saggen and Dreiheiligen towards the listed Hofgarten. This will strengthen the visibility of the access from the surrounding urban space. The campus will produce a quality added value for students, researchers and teachers as well as for the population of Innsbruck, according to the team of architects.

"We are extremely pleased that we were able to win the competition for the new MCI Campus building with our design. It stands for openness, identity, communication and design excellence. We will bring our expertise in university construction of more than 60 years to this project, and develop it further together with the MCI," the managing director of the Munich site Andreas Schulte and Lucas Ziegler, head of design at Henning Larsen Munich, are convinced: "With the new MCI Campus, not only a groundbreaking concept for modern teaching, learning and working environments will be created at a fantastic inner-city location, but also an inviting place for people to meet and stay."

MCI Rector Andreas Altmann added: "Henning Larsen's project is as convincing in terms of urban planning and architecture as it is functionally and economically. We are very much looking forward to its realization."
